    Carbomer 940 is a white, loose powder with excellent thickening properties, high transparency, high viscosity, strong suspension ability, short rheological and thixotropic properties, low resistance to ionic shear forces, and main characteristics of swelling and mild acidity. It is widely used in transparent gels, essences, and cream products, especially suitable for high-transparency products.


    [Function and Application]
    Carbomer 940 possesses characteristics such as short rheology, high viscosity, high clarity, low ion tolerance, and low shear resistance. Its role in products is primarily manifested in three aspects: thickening, suspension, and emulsification. Carbomer 940 can produce a high viscosity even at very low concentrations (conventional dosage is 0.25-0.5%). Carbomer resin can serve as an excellent suspending agent, allowing insoluble components to be suspended in the system, and also as an emulsifier, playing an emulsifying and stabilizing role in oil-water phases. Additionally, it is also a transparent base for cosmetics and an effective water-soluble thickener.

    [Usage Notes]
    After neutralization of carbomer, prolonged stirring or high shear stirring can cause viscosity loss. The presence of electrolytes can reduce the thickening efficiency of carbomer resin. Prolonged ultraviolet radiation can decrease the viscosity of carbomer resin.


    [Friendly Reminder]
    The dispersion time of various types of Carbopol in water is related to water temperature and quality. It is recommended to use deionized water. After dissolution, add other ingredients. Carbopol 940, 941, 934, and 981 require soaking for approximately 8 hours, while Carbopol 2020, U10, and U20 require soaking for approximately 4 hours. The specific dissolution time is related to the amount dissolved.
