Tim-3 (T cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain-3)
T cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain molecule 3 (T cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain-3, Tim-3), also known as HAVCR2, is a member of the immunomodulatory molecule TIM family and is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of 60 kD molecular weight . Mature human Tim-3 is composed of 181aa extracellular region, 21aa transmembrane region, and 78aa cytoplasmic region. Tim-3 is one of the important members of the T-cell immunoglobulin molecule family and is a key molecule expressed by activated Th1 cells that regulates CD4 + CD25 + regulatory T (TR) cells. Th1 cells express full-length membrane Tim3 (flTim3) and soluble Tim3 (sTim3) by selective splicing of mRNA. Tim-3 is mainly expressed in differentiated and mature Th1 cells, and its ligand galectin-9 can down-regulate Th1-type cellular immune response.
