The main components of electrophoresis cannot be separated from our biological buffer. They are usually added to the solution to stabilize the pH when current is passed through the sample. The ideal buffer for electrophoresis depends on the isoelectric point (pH at which a particular molecule has no net charge) of the sample being analyzed. 1. Tris buffer
Used for: gel electrophoresis (TAE or TBE solution)
Useful pH range: 7.5-9.0
pKa (25°C): 7.8-8.2

3. Bicine buffer
Used for: gel electrophoresis

4. CAPS buffer
Used for: Capillary Electrophoresis

Function: Use capillary electrophoresis-inductively coupled plasma sector field mass spectrometry to determine trace levels of element species. Capillary electrophoresis is used to detect and quantify alginic acid in mussels.
